Refrain From Migraine And Snoring - TMJ Treatment

The Temporomandibular Joint connects the jaw to the skull. When this joint is damaged or injured, it will lead to pain and uneasiness. This TMJ joint only helps to chew, yawn, talk, and move the jaw up and down. The temporomandibular joint distortion results in wrong breathing and inconsistent chewing. It happens because the upper and lower teeth do not occlude normally. There will be a shift in the mandibular position and the body is propelled to find a solution to this issue. The altered mandible articulates with the skull in many ways leading to a TMJ disorder. As important nerves undergo prolonged stimulation in this region, it leads to many discomforts.

TMJ Treatment

TMJ disorder is treated in two phases

Phase I: Splint therapy: A TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), an ultra-low frequency machine used to relax facial muscles. A highly sophisticated tracking device helps to determine the actual position of the mandible. To fill out the space between the teeth, a lower splint is constructed.

Phase II: After six months, the splint is removed and with the help of orthodontic therapy space is closed permanently.
